Our behavior development and intervention works with a broad range of deficits related to behavior regulation and social-emotional and pragmatic development. The family-centered approach includes strategies and techniques that are effective in the therapeutic environment as well as in the home and classroom settings.
The team works closely with family members, teachers, and other core team members to provide the most comprehensive strategies and techniques that promote transition and carryover of learned skills to all environments. In addition to this we provide intervention for life skills development and academic skills development to our older children. Within our scope of practice we provide traditional ABA therapy, and Floor Time for our younger children.
Parents and professionals have increasingly advocated for the use of positive approaches to behavioral intervention for all students. The effectiveness of positive approaches such as functional behavior assessments, instructions on social skills, replacement behaviors, positive reinforcement, and other preventative measures, has been demonstrated in the research on behavior intervention. These strategies can help students make improvements in their behavior and ability to learn. Behaviorists offer consultations for children in individual and group-based educational settings, to assist in applying effective strategies for children to enhance their communication, manage the classroom routine independently, remain productive during periods of free time, and successfully interact with peers. They are involved in the development, support, and implementation of Positive Behavioral Support Plans, and provide hands-on training of classroom teachers and support staff.
